This study is a Exploratory research regarding All FGM/C with the following characteristics: Author(s): Dixon,S.,Hinton,L. & Locock,L. FGM/C Type(s): All Health area of focus: None. Objective: The aim of the report was to understand community and health professional priorities for research into caring for people affected by FGM. Study Population: Women from communities affected by FGM in Oxford and London, health and education professionals working with these communities. Findings: For services to be accessible, women must have confidence in the providers. Community members and experts voiced concern that mandated reporting and recording for the “improved FGM dataset” could have a negative influence on the trust required for engagement on sensitive topics such as FGM. A considerable need has been highlighted to assess the impact of new UK legislation on FGM-affected populations and primary health care providers. Understanding what makes health consultations “safe” settings where support can be provided to women and families suffering with the impacts of FGM and work with them to protect daughters is necessary.
