Objective: i) assess the quality of studies that have evaluated different interventions for the prevention of FGM/C and ii) describe the FGM/C interventions that were evaluated by high quality studies.
Study Population: relied on literature
Findings: In general,the body of evidence from January 1,2000 through August 31,2016 produced by studies investigating the impact of interventions to end FGM/C is of low quality. This REA provides valuable methodological lessons for high quality studies along with beginning the understanding of ‘what works’,by highlighting interventions reported by high quality studies that have resulted in significant impacts for FGM/C prevention and abandonment.
