Objective: To identify and understand the underlying tone of news stories while portraying issues pertaining to the violation of basic rights of women.
Study Population: Women who have undergone FGM,journalists,activists and readers
Findings: The media portrayal of violation of women’s human rights is skewed. Issues pertaining to women’s human rights are covered in extremes: either by sensationalizing the act of outrage or simply ignoring the very incident.
