The impact of socio-economic status on the practice,perception and attitudes of secondary school girls towards Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) (2003)

Objective: Assesment of the Knowledge,attitudes and perception of secondary school girls on FGM/C, Assesment of the impact of the educational and Socio_economic status of parents on the attitudes of respondent towards FGM/C
Study Population: secondary school girls aged 13-22
Findings: It was found that a direct relationship exists between the parent’s socio-economic status and the type of circumcision chosen for the respondents. Irrespective of the socio-economic status of the parents,the respondents had positive attitudes regarding the circumcision of their future daughters
