This study is a Descriptive research regarding All FGM/C with the following characteristics:
Author(s): Siles-González,J.,Reig-Alcaraz,M.,Noreña-Peña,A. L. & Solano-Ruiz,C.
FGM/C Type(s): All
Health area of focus: None.
Objective: The study aimed to identify the factors that affect FGM and its impact through the experiences experienced by women who have suffered it.
Study Population: Women
Findings: The patriarchally regulated culture is the cradle of this “custom” that has a very pronounced socializing component in a variety of cultures and religions. The choice to opt out of this practice results in the complete marginalization of the “rebellious” woman and her family. Habitus and logical conformism assist the continuation of female genital mutilation as a rite of passage with a subjective and socially accepted institutional nature. The most important strategy for combating female genital mutilation is critical thinking in the context of transculturality, which promotes the opening of the feminine world to multiple ways of thinking.
