A case control study on the association between chronic kidney disease and female genital mutilation (2013)

This study is a Descriptive research regarding All FGM/C with the following characteristics:

Objective: To investigate the possible association between FGM and chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Study Population: Girls aged 4 – 16 years with known chronic kidney disease (CKD) and girls with no urogenital symptoms as controls
Findings: Girls with chronic kidney disease (CKD) seemed to have undergone FGM more often than controls (OR 2.3,p =0.02,CI 1.9 – 5.8),and they had longer time interval since FGM was performed (p = 0.003)
